Where the numbers come from

Every rate on this site comes from an official published source, such as VA.gov's disability compensation tables and the federal regulations VA uses to combine ratings. Each calculator shows the date of the rates it uses and links to the source, so you can check it yourself. We update the rates when the government publishes new ones: VA disability rates every December 1, and military pay and housing allowance rates each January.

Calculators also show how they work, step by step. For example, the combined rating calculator shows each step of “VA math” so you can see exactly how VA gets from your individual ratings to one combined rating.

SquaredAwayPay is an independent website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense or any military branch. Results are estimates. Confirm your amounts with VA.gov or your finance office before making decisions.
